The Ondo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has described the death of its chairman, Mr Fatai Adams as a rude shock to all the members of the party in the state and Nigeria in general.
Adams passed away early Wednesday morning following an undisclosed ailment.
To this end, the party has declared a three-day mourning period in honour of the deceased who died at his private residence in Akure.
This was contained in a statement issued by the state Publicity Secretary of the party Mr Kennedy Peretei on Wednesday.
The statement read, “Ondo State chapter wishes to express our shock and devastation over the demise of Hon. Fatai Adams, whose death occurred this morning at a private hospital in Akure after a brief illness.
“His transition at this trying time of the party is not only sad but traumatic. The State Working Committee of the party has declared a three-day mourning period. Party flags are to fly at half mast and all party secretariat shut for the period across the state.”
Prior to his election as the chairman in August 2020, Adams had been a member of the Ondo State House of Assembly (between 2007-2011). He also served as deputy state chairman of the PDP in the state.
“Our party commiserates with his family and the Ondo State PDP at large. May Almighty Allah grant him Al Jannah Firdaus,” the statement read.
