13 BIU graduates bag first class in bar exam

Thirteen graduates from the Faculty of Law of Benson Idahosa University have bagged first class at the 2023 Nigerian Law School Bar examination.

BIU’s Head of Communication, Temi Esonamunjor, on Thursday, told South-South PUNCH that the bar examination was conducted on November 2023 and the result was released on February 14.

He said, “We are proud to announce that 13 graduates from the Faculty of Law, Benson Idahosa University, bagged first class at the 2023 Nigerian Law School Bar examination.

“This remarkable success not only highlights the academic prowess of our students, but also reflects the high standards of education and preparation provided by Benson Idahosa University’s Faculty of Law.

“In the results released by the Council for Legal Education, where 5,308 candidates sat for the examination, a notable 251 individuals, representing about five per cent of the total candidates made first class.

“Given that the number of universities in Nigeria approved by the CLE to sit for the NLS bar examinations as at 2023, is 68, the feat achieved by these 13 gemstones can simply be described as awesome.”

Acting Vice Chancellor of BIU and chairman of BIU Senate, Professor Johnson Oyedeji, on receiving the news of the extraordinary feet at the Heritage Campus of the university, expressed profound joy and gratitude, on behalf of the management and Senate of the university, to the staff and students of the Faculty of Law.

Oyedeji added, “These extraordinary individuals have defied expectations, showcasing their unparalleled dedication, intellect, and sheer determination from the hallowed halls of BIU to the prestigious podiums of Law Schoo; they’ve navigated the complexities of jurisprudence with finesse, flair and excellence.”

He also attributed the achievement to the professionalism, strong academic resource and ethics exhibited at the university.

The graduates, who expressed their happiness and heartfelt appreciation to the faculty staff and lecturers for their unwavering support, also applauded the faculty for imparting knowledge and ensuring their success in the rigorous journey towards academic excellence.
